Child of God – Identity, the Holy Trinity, and Proverbs 18:10

There are titles the world gives you — your job, your rank, your reputation. And then there is the title that cannot be earned, revoked, or outgrown. Child of God.

It is not a sentiment. It is a legal declaration made in the courts of Heaven. And once you understand what it means, nothing else quite compares.

What Does It Mean to Be a Child of God?

The apostle John writes with quiet astonishment:

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”

To be a child of God is to be adopted into the family of the Most High. Not as a servant. Not as a subject. As a son or daughter. The same God who spoke the universe into existence calls you His own. You bear His name. You carry His Spirit. You are heir to His Kingdom.

This is not a metaphor. In Roman law — the world Paul and John wrote into — adoption carried full legal weight. An adopted child received the father’s name, the father’s debts were cancelled, and they inherited everything. That is the picture Scripture uses to describe what God has done for you through Christ.

“For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’”

The Holy Trinity — Three Persons, One God, One Family

Your identity as a child of God is not the work of one Person of the Godhead — it is the work of all three.

• The Father chose you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). His love initiated everything. It was not your seeking that found Him — it was His love that pursued you.
• The Son paid the price to make adoption possible. Jesus did not simply teach about the Father — He opened the door to the Father. “No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). His death cancelled the debt. His resurrection sealed the inheritance.
• The Holy Spirit is the down payment — the guarantee. He lives inside every believer as the seal of sonship, the inner witness that you belong. It is the Spirit who prompts your heart to cry “Abba” — the most intimate Aramaic word for Father.

The Trinity is not a theological puzzle to be solved. It is a family to be welcomed into. And as a child of God, you stand inside that circle of love.

Proverbs 18:10 — The Name That Protects You

“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

In the ancient world, a fortified tower was the last refuge in a siege. When everything outside was under threat, you ran to the tower. It did not matter how strong the enemy was — what mattered was whether the tower could hold.

God’s name is that tower. And notice who runs to it: the righteous. Not the perfect. Not the powerful. The righteous — those who have been made right with God through faith. As a child of God, that is you.

When fear comes, when the enemy presses in, when life brings pressure you did not expect — you have a name to run to. Not a strategy. Not a self-help technique. A name. The name above every name.

Why We Wear It

At Soldier of Christ, “Child of God” is more than a design. It is a declaration of whose you are before you declare what you do. In a world that defines people by performance, achievement, and status, wearing this jersey is a quiet act of resistance.

You are not defined by your record. You are not defined by your mistakes. You are not defined by what others say about you. You are defined by what the Father says about you — and He calls you His child.

Wear that. Step onto the mat, the pitch, the court, the street wearing the identity that cannot be stripped from you. Run to the tower. Fight from a place of security, not fear.
