The Enemy Wants You to Forget These 7 Truths

The devil is not subtle about his strategy. Jesus described him plainly: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10). He cannot take your salvation. He cannot touch your eternity. But he can try to make you forget who you are and what God has already said about you.

These seven scriptures are the ones he works hardest to keep you from believing. Read them. Memorise them. Hold them like weapons — because that is exactly what they are.

Truth 1 — You Will Never Be Abandoned

"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
— Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)

Loneliness is one of the enemy’s most effective weapons. He works through isolation — convincing you that no one sees, no one cares, no one is coming. That in the hard seasons, you are on your own.

God has made a promise in the strongest language available in the Greek — a double negative that intensifies the certainty beyond any normal statement. It does not say I probably won’t leave you or I’ll leave when it gets too hard. It says: never. Not when you fail. Not when you doubt. Not at 3am when the weight is heaviest. Never.

The Soldier of Christ does not fight alone. He never has.

Truth 2 — Your Temptation Has a Limit

"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
— 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)

The enemy wants you to believe the temptation you are facing is unique, overwhelming, and impossible to resist. That you are weaker than everyone else. That this particular battle cannot be won.

Paul dismantles that lie with three declarations: the temptation is not unique to you, God is faithful and has set a ceiling on what He will allow, and there is always — always — a way out. You are never cornered. You are never without an exit. The question is whether you are looking for it.

God does not let the enemy fight dirty. There are rules to this war, and God enforces them.

Truth 3 — Your Sins Are Forgiven When You Confess Them

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
— 1 John 1:9 (NIV)

Guilt is one of the enemy’s most effective long-term weapons. Not the healthy conviction that leads to repentance — but the grinding, crushing guilt that makes you feel permanently disqualified. That says: God could never use someone like you after what you’ve done.

John’s answer is forensic in its precision. If you confess — God is faithful (He will not break His promise) and just (the debt has been legally paid by the blood of Christ). He will forgive. He will purify. Past tense, present tense, complete.

You do not need to earn your way back. You confess and receive. That is the deal. Do not let the enemy keep you living under condemnation that God has already lifted.

Truth 4 — Fear Is Not from God

"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline."
— 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)

Fear is one of the most effective tools in the enemy’s arsenal — fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of stepping into what God has called you to. It paralyses. It shrinks. It makes warriors stand still.

Paul writes to Timothy — a young leader who was apparently struggling with timidity — and reminds him that the Spirit of God does not produce fear. The Spirit produces power (dunamis — the same word used for the dynamite of God), love (which casts out fear, as John writes elsewhere), and self-discipline (a sound, ordered mind).

When fear arrives, trace its source. It is not from your Father. Identify it. Name it. And remind yourself of what the Spirit actually produces in you.

Truth 5 — Be Strong and Courageous

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
— Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV)

These words were spoken by Moses to Israel on the eve of crossing into the Promised Land — a land full of enemies, fortified cities, and giants. The command was not wait until you feel ready. It was: be strong and courageous now, because of who goes with you.

Courage in Scripture is never the absence of fear. It is action taken in the presence of fear, grounded in the knowledge that God goes ahead of you. Israel had to cross the Jordan. They had to face the walls of Jericho. They had to show up.

You have enemies in front of you too — in your mind, in your circumstances, in the spiritual realm. The command has not changed. Be strong. Be courageous. The Lord your God goes with you.

Truth 6 — Prayer Is Your Weapon

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."
— Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Ephesians 6 is the famous passage about the full armour of God. Paul lists the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the Gospel, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. And then he adds this — prayer.

Prayer is not a passive, last-resort activity. It is the mechanism by which all the other armour is activated and maintained. On all occasions. All kinds. Always. The enemy wants you to pray less — to be too busy, too tired, too distracted. A soldier who stops communicating with his commanding officer is a soldier who fights blind.

Stay on the line. Pray without ceasing. Be alert.

Truth 7 — Victory Has Already Been Won

"But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
— 1 Corinthians 15:57 (NIV)

This is the verse the enemy most desperately needs you to forget. Because if you truly believe it, nothing he does can shake you.

1 Corinthians 15 is Paul’s great chapter on the Resurrection. He argues step by step that if Christ rose from the dead, then death itself has been defeated, sin’s power has been broken, and the final enemy has already lost. The battle is not uncertain. The outcome is not in question. The victory has been secured and given — not earned, given — through Jesus Christ.

You are not fighting for victory. You are fighting from victory. That is a completely different posture. The Soldier of Christ enters every battle knowing the war is already won.

Remember What He Wants You to Forget

Write these down. Put them somewhere you will see them. Speak them out loud when the pressure comes. The enemy’s greatest weapon is a lie — and every one of these scriptures is the truth that breaks it.
